Baptist Confession of Faith 1644

Baptists and the Bible

In our Sunday School class we are studing the roots of the group of people called Baptists and last week we started looking at Baptist confessions of faith throughout the years. The first one we are looking at is the Baptist Confession of Faith of 1644 (also know as the 1st London Confession).

This confession was rooted and grounded in Scripture by a group of people know as the Particular Baptists. This group of people feared God and wanted to live and believe according to His Word and not man’s wisdom.

This confession is what they compiled to counteract all the false doctrine being taught in their day. It was also the fist confession advocating baptism by immersion, because up unitl this time people that were called baptists were either sprinkled or poured upon.

Microsoft Office Ultimate Deal for Students

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

Phil Gons over at Logos had this on their blog and I thought I would pass it along. Original post is here http://blog.logos.com/archives/2008/09/the_ultimate_steal.html

The Ultimate Steal

This doesn’t have much to do with Logos Bible Software, but it’s too good of a deal not to pass on to you.

Microsoft is again offering Office Ultimate 2007 for only $59.95! It retails at $679.95, so this is a savings of more than 91%.

Ultimate includes these 10 programs:

  • Word 2007
  • Excel 2007
  • PowerPoint 2007
  • Outlook 2007
  • OneNote 2007
  • Groove 2007
  • Publisher 2007
  • Access 2007
  • InfoPath 2007
  • Accounting Express 2008

That’s only $6 per program!

There are two stipulations for qualifying:

  1. You must have a .edu email address.
  2. “You must be a student at a U.S. educational institution and must be actively enrolled in at least 0.5 course credit and be able to provide proof of enrollment upon request.”

While there are a couple of good Office competitors out there, Office is still the standard and it integrates best with Logos (e.g., Bible reading schedules in Outlook, search results in Excel, and copying and pasting text with auto-citations into Word).

If you’re a student and don’t have Office, you should definitely give this a look.

Looks like starting September 8 you can also grab the upgrade to Vista Ultimate SP1 for only $64.95 (retails at $239.99).

When it’s all been said and done

Lighthouse

I came across this song as I am preparing for our worship service tomorrow and I think it is very appropriate to post the lyrics for all Christ followers…

When it’s all been said and done
There is just one thing that matters
Did I do my best to live for truth
Did I live my life for You

When it’s all been said and done
All my treasures will mean nothing
Only what I’ve done for love’s Reward
Will stand the test of time

Lord Your mercy is so great
That You look beyond our Weakness
And find purest gold in miry clay
Making sinners into saints

I will always sing Your praise
Here on earth and ever after
For You’ve shown me Heaven’s my
True home

When it’s all been said and done
You’re my life when life is gone

Lord I’ll live my life for You
