PBB Updater

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

If you own one of the Logos Base Packages then you have a key to read PBB (Personal Book Builder) Books that people have compiled. Here is the best way to update you library (sans money).

The folks over at www.stilltruth.com have a huge number of books and you can download them one by one or they have a nifty pbb_updater utility that can be used to automatically download any or all of these free resources. Click the link below:

http://www.stilltruth.com/2008/easiest-way-download-pbb-resources#attachments

Now download the file attachment PBB_Updater_Setup.msi and save it in your “C:\Program Files\Libronix\Resources” folder run the pbb_updater_setup.msi and install the program. I installed it on a Hp Laptop running Vista Home Premium and these are the settings I used. [Next - I Agree - Everyone - Next - (In Vista - Allow) - Close].

Right click on the ”updated mysettings.xml” link and choose “save target as” then in the location box choose “c:\program files\stilltruth.com\Pbb Updater” Click Save and it will ask you that this file already exists do you want to replace it? Click yes.

(On this laptop I had to save the file in my documents folder and then copy and using Windows Explorer find the folder c:\program files\stilltruth.com\Pbb Updater” and click paste and then it asked if I wanted to replace it and I said yes and then it asked for administrator rights and I said yes then it replaced it.)

Now I click to run the actual program (In Vista - Allow) I selected every box  (1) Application, (2) StillTruth.Com and (3) Walther Library 965.637 MB Total Download as of today (02/16/08) and now it is downloading all kinds of cool PBB for my library.

If I can help in any way contact me at jeff@jeffbrown.com and also I have included the mysettings.xml file from my computer here: MySettings.XML file for Personal Book Updater

Tagging Bible Addresses for Personal Book Builder

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Have you ever tried to tag all your bible references for a document that you want to in include in your Libronix Digital Library? I have and doing it manually takes tons of time :-(

However the folks over at www.spiritandtruth.org have created a bible address tagging program that works in a dos environment. Here is the simple steps to running it and getting the output you desire.

Step 1: Download the zip file from their website, the direct link as of the date of this post is:

http://www.spiritandtruth.org/download/tools/bibletag.py.zip

However the page could change and the page I downloaded it from is:

http://www.spiritandtruth.org/download/tools/index.htm

Step Two: Create a folder to put your files in. Once you get the zip file - unzip it to a folder you can find. I created a folder called “C:\BibleTag” once you get the files unzipped there is no installing anything! Don’t be intimidated where it talks about a python install - you don’t have to do anything but unzip the files and you are ready. To make a Libronix Personal Book Project you will want to open up “flags.txt” and delete all lines in this file and place the following two lines in it and save it:

-lbxpbb
-yes

Step Three: Copy your html file into the folder “c:\bibletag”

Step Four: In windows explorer drag and drop your html file right on top of Bibletag.exe

Step Five: You now have a file called “whateveryourhtmlfilename_bibletag.htm” and it is ready for your personal book builder project.

I would start out with a simple word document with maybe two or three lines in it and a couple of bible addresses. Save it as “Web filtered” (HTML) and then drop it on top of the bibletag.exe and watch it go to work. It only takes a few seconds with the largest of documents. :-D

Email me at jeff@jeffbrown.com if there I can be of any assistance.
